Ingleby Gallery
This series of four exhibitions held by the gallery during the
Edinburgh Art Festival is
part of an ongoing, year long programme of
26 exhibition projects which began in July
2007 and will cease July 2008 when the gallery
will be exactly ten years old. Each of the 26
installations presents a conversation between
one invited artist and a counterpoint of their choice – be that
another artist, an object, a piece
of music, a film etc. For details of all 26 artists
and their ‘pairings’ please see the gallery website. The

Art Festival will be:
28 July – 9 August
Rachel Whiteread and Robert Burns’ breakfast table
A sculpture and new works on paper by Rachel
Whiteread will be shown with Robert Burns’ breakfast table.
11 – 23 August
David Batchelor & Nikolai Suetin
David Batchelor’s Found Monochromes
of London (1997 – 2003) slide projection will
be presented alongside a painting by the Russian
Suprematist Nikolai Suetin (1897 – 1954)
25 August – 6 September
Francesca Woodman & Richard Serra
A selection of silver gelatin photographs
from the Estate of Francesca Woodman and
Richard Serra’s mesmerising film from 1968,
Hand Catching Lead.
8 – 15 September
James Hugonin & Howard Skempton
James Hugonin will show his most recent painting Untitled XVI for
the very first time, alongside
Howard Skempton’s handwritten score for a new
musical composition, Pavilion, which was inspired
by Hugonin’s work. A performance of Pavilion,
and other works by Skempton – some of which
will be performed by the composer himself– will be held at the gallery from 5 – 5.30pm
on Saturday 15th September. Free, all welcome.
