Jean Bareham | Revolution to Devolution: 500 years of Democracy in Scotland

Join us on our walking tour series investigating Edinburgh’s historical links to struggles for democracy, abolitionism and social reform, exploring the city’s monuments, martyrs and political landscapes.

Jean Bareham, Founder of Greenyonder Tours, takes in the wonderful views of Edinburgh from Calton Hill to look at the city’s landscape and monuments delving into the country’s relationship with democracy. An almost forgotten tale, this walk will decipher the clues that live on in Edinburgh’s landscape and tell this 500-year-old story.

This tour will also highlight some of Edinburgh Art Festival’s Commissions including a visit to Emeka Ogboh: Song of the Union at the Burns Monument. Jean Bareham is the Founder of Greenyonder Tours and the author of Hidden Gardens of the Royal Mile: Unexpected Green Gems in Edinburgh’s Old Town.
