Join us for a talk that proposes objects and places possess ‘cultural biographies’. Archaeologist and ethnographer Dr Angela McClanahan (Edinburgh College of Art) will examine the biography of Edinburgh’s Embassy Gallery, exploring its history and role as a social and cultural space.

How do artists make? Meet Amanda Game (Innovative Craft) and award-winning Scottish silversmith Grant McCaig, to discuss the processes and techniques involved in the Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition. Following this Grant will open up his studio in Leith to discuss his practice from concept to finished piece whilst providing demonstrations.
Artist Film and Collaboration

Talbot Rice Gallery. 2pm
Visit both Talbot Rice and doggerfisher to examine the work of Jane and Louise Wilson and Nashashibi/ Skaer, two acclaimed pairs of artists working with film. Providing a history for their practices, Dr Tamara Trodd (Glasgow University) will discuss how the artists work with the moving image, collaborate and use installations as expanded viewing spaces. Comfortable shoes advised.
