Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop: Shift/Work
6–9pm
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop presents Shift/Work, a workshop running between the 30th of July and the 7th of August 2011.
Neil Mulholland will work with three artists to devise a rota-based curriculum that draws attention to the workshop as a convivial means of production and distribution. The artists will be invited to exploit Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s resources to assist 12 invited participants in their learning through on-the-job training.
Each intensive two-day workshop will be an isolated shift, the artist and participants having no detailed knowledge of the other workshops in the cycle. The 12 participants will continue to attend Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop during the two-day unsupervised shifts between the workshops. The public are invited to attend the completion of the shift cycle.

Edinburgh Art Festival's Youth Day 2011
2–6pm, followed by a film screening at 6.30pm
Free
Drop in session, no booking necessary
Edinburgh Art Festival in association with Stills present Youth Art Day 2011. This day consists of free workshops specifically for young people aged 14–17. These events are aimed at getting young people involved with contemporary art and each workshop will use EAF exhibitions as inspiration for participants to create their own unique piece of art through film.
Stills along with participants will be making their own hand drawn film footage inspired by Stephen Sutcliffe’s exhibition Runaway, Success.
Obsessively cutting statements from literature, theatre, film and television, the artist hoards material to re-present it in juddering, cut-up videos that shine with the brightness of glimpsed moments caught unexpectedly on a late night television.
These workshops will come to a close with a special screening event at Stills where parents and friends are welcome to come along to the screening where popcorn and drinks will be served.
