Linder: A kind of glamour about me

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh event

7th August 25

SOLD OUT

EAF25 opens with new commission A kind of glamour about me, a performance by pioneering feminist artist Linder. Nodding to Walter Scott’s early meaning of “glamour” as illusory magic, the performance reflects on the transformative power of creativity to shape identity and social mobility, featuring movement by Holly Blakey, sound by Maxwell Sterling, percussion by Kenichi Iwasa, and costume by Ashish Gupta.

Co-commissioned with Mount Stuart Trust, the work pillages references from Mount Stuart, a neo-Gothic mansion on the Isle of Bute, referencing its stained glass and anthropomorphic furniture, alongside Linder’s own archival motifs. Linder’s work will also feature on a new, live-pasted billboard site at Thornybauk, bringing her iconic photomontage to the streets of Edinburgh in partnership with JACK ARTS Scotland.

After the performance, join us for the official EAF25 Launch Party, taking over the nearby Grange Club with feminist nightlife collective Femmergy.

! Explores queer-coded tropes, mythical punishments, and female empowerment through stories of women transforming into trees — by choice or force.
