YurtaSet in the tranquil ‘hidden garden’ of the Scottish Book Trust in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre Scott Laverie’s Yurta serves as a monument to the adventure of creativity. It is a playful structure that combines and cannibalises the properties of many architectural genres in the pursuit of a ‘triumphant’ aesthetic. On the one hand it is a tower, a monument associated for thousands of years with settled civilisations. And on the other it appears as a shack-like mobile dwelling, a home for nomads and explorers. The pavilion will host the work of local artists throughout its four-week stay including Ruth Barker, Craig Coulthard and Christopher Walker. Presented in association with The Scottish Book Trust Throughout its four-week stay Yurta will play host to a dynamic programme of temporary artworks, performances and music nights. Commissioned artists include Ruth Barker, Craig Coulthard and Chris Walker. |
