For the first time the Festival is programming special events to explore
themes in the Festival and complement the galleries own events programmes.
EAF WALKS

Guided Walks
Twice weekly from 3 August – 2 September, there will be themed guided walks covering a number of exhibitions within the city. Developed and led by graduates from Edinburgh College of Art, these free walks will act as an accessible and informative introduction to the festival and its galleries, whilst exploring a theme highlighted in this year’s
programme.

Contemporary Art in Scotland

A topical discussion on the state of Scottish art led by Sarah Lowndes,
author of Social Sculpture and Edinburgh artist
Craig Coulthard.
Performance Art and Physical Theatre

13 Aug 2pm
Artist Kevin Henderson and Director Wolfgang Hoffman debate the affinities
between these art forms, which flourished in the Beuys and Kantor years
and are doing so again with Aurora Nova.
Archives and Memory

23 Aug 6pm
The art of the archive is discussed by Stephen Partridge
on Video Art from the 1970s,
Karl Magee on the Film and
Theatre of Lindsay Anderson and Dave Rushton on his
involvement with
Art and Language.

Pat Fisher, Curator of Talbot
Rice Gallery, Edinburgh will discuss David Batchelor’s current
installation and David Mitchell, horticulturalist and curator of the
Glasshouses, will chart the history of art projects at the Glasshouses.
It will be followed by a walk through to the Palm House to look at
Candela 7/450 (For the Death Star).
