Reflections: A Decade of North Lands Creative Glass

From modest beginnings, North Lands Creative Glass is now the centre of excellence in contemporary glass. Here we celebrate the centre’s tenth anniversary with a beautiful display of over 60 artworks by internationally acclaimed glassmakers.

Situated in Lybster, a small fishing village on the north-east coast of Scotland, North Lands developed to fulfil the growing interest in glass as an art form, inviting glass artists, painters, sculptors, architects and designers to explore the technical and artistic potential of glass. It is now the destination of choice amongst the world’s greatest contemporary glassmakers due to its programme of summer master classes, annual conferences and residencies.

Legendary Swedish artist, Bertil Vallien, gave the first master class in 1996, other master class leaders include Tessa Clegg, Dante Marioni, and Richard Marquis.
