Picasso: Fired with PassionIn this new exhibition see over 100 objects from world class collections. Through an array of ceramics, paintings, lithography and metalwork, explore the period between 1947 and 1961 when Picasso lived and worked in Vallauris and Cannes in the south of France. Photographs and personal mementos offer an intimate glimpse of Picasso’s family life and of his friendships at that time. 15 June–28 October 2007 Discover diminutive jewels of natural perfection combined with enchanting storytelling. Anna’s art encompasses tapestry, woven textiles, basket weaving and papermaking. The majesty and mystery of Scotland’s landscapes, history and culture are threaded throughout her work. Words too are her inspiration: concealed in baskets or waiting to be discovered within the texture of tapestries.
29 June–2 September Experience Highlands and Islands cultural life and creativity, past and present. Highlights of this showcase of history, culture, geology and geography, include Antonio David’s charismatic portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie and a diary, written on playing cards, chronicling the final Jacobite defeat at Culloden.

24 August In this three-part intervention the statue of William Chambers outside the museum appears blindfolded (18 August), the following week (20 – 24 August) a short film, screened in the Instruments of Science gallery, draws on material connected with Robert Stevenson’s Bell Rock Lighthouse, whilst a book of postcards (available at the museum shop) links to museum objects.
