The post
Edinburgh Art Festival is looking to appoint a new Learning and Engagement Coordinator in order to implement a new community learning and outreach programme directly linked to the festival’s upcoming Dazzle Ship Scotland project, being delivered in partnership with 1418 NOW.
Working with 14-18 NOW and supported by the Scottish Government and The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust, we are commissioning the Glasgow based artist Ciara Phillips to ‘dazzle’ a ship in Leith. The work will form a key part of the nationwide commemorations of the centenary of WW1, as well as the events designed to commemorate the Battle of Jutland.
The principle aims of the post will be to engage local schools, families and community groups with the project, and will support the festival’s wider ambition to develop the impact of our programme in hard to reach communities.
As well as engaging communities directly with the Dazzle project, the successful candidate will lead on integrating the project into the wider festival programme.
Principle aims of the post
- To establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with local schools, community groups and relevant project partners, establishing opportunities for ongoing development of community engagement and access work throughout the year
- To plan and deliver engaging workshops that relate directly to Dazzle and the wider festival programme;
- To liaise with the Marketing and Audience Development manager to identify and maximise opportunities for audience development;
- To lead on the management of design and production resource materials for use in schools, community workshops and by families;
- To collaborate with festival partners to deliver workshops aligned to their programmes;
- To monitor and evaluate the success of projects and workshops, developing clear and deliverable objectives for future projects;
- Identify opportunities to work with partner organisations to strengthen and extend the impact of the programme;
- To champion the values of Edinburgh Art Festival’s dual commitment to quality and access;
- To increase knowledge, awareness and engagement of Edinburgh Art Festival in traditionally hard to reach communities
