Alessandro Di Massimo: I'll Be Your Mirror

I’ll Be Your Mirror is an installation of five works by Edinburgh-based Italian artist Alessandro Di Massimo centred on the theme of borders, boundaries, citizenship and European identity. Di Massimo is interested in how borders have changed throughout history and how they reflect those who define them. 

Throughout the exhibition, Di Massimo analyses the contemporary idea of the border, focusing his attention on how it lost its basis on architectural and physical features throughout history in favour of political and economical characteristics. His most recent artworks explore optical illusions and video, with the aim of investigating concepts including democracy and economy.
