Antonia Hirsch’s conceptually based practice encompasses a variety of media, including installation, video and photography. Her work frequently addresses systems of representation, exploring how they mediate personal experience and a shared reality. In this, she investigates the often invisible hierarchies by relating them to more familiar territory: embodied experience.
Hirsch’s work has been exhibited in Canada, Europe and Asia in institutions including Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Power Plant in Toronto, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and ZKM Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe. Her projects have been featured in solo exhibitions at the Charles H. Scott Gallery, Vancouver; Artspeak, Vancouver; and Tramway, Glasgow. She is the editor of the anthology Intangible Economies, published by Fillip in 2012.
